Poseidon

The sea-god crowned and landlocked, set against a wall of raw cadmium yellow — no ocean, just the heat of it. The head turns away in three-quarter profile, the beard built from crimson and grey in a few loaded strokes, the crown catching the only cool light in the picture. A small painting that behaves like a big one: flat, graphic, unafraid of the color.
