About

Art made where the body doesn't fit

Born in Brazil and based in Toronto since 2014, Régis Souto creates figurative work in oil, mixed media, and digital that explores identity, migration, belonging, and queer resilience. Each canvas is a negotiation between what the body carries and what the world allows to be seen.

His current series, Prismatic Identity, investigates self-perception, change, and layers of material as metaphor for identity in constant transformation. The work lives between graphic clarity and intimate vulnerability — and refuses the border between the two.

Régis also acts for his own media projects. His work has been shown in group exhibitions across Toronto since 2024, and in a solo exhibition at The Show Gallery, Toronto, in April 2026.

"The body is the first contested territory."
