Beyond the Contour - 2026

A journey told in three acts. From perception to memory, and finally to choice. Across this body of work, the black line becomes the central language: what begins as contour gradually transforms into boundary, protection, and a conscious act of definition.

Act I | Ten Seconds of Light

Painting returns to the innocence of observation. Inspired by childhood memories and encounters with Brazilian fauna, these works explore moments of quiet perfection, brief flashes of presence that exist before analysis or judgment. Against dark backgrounds, birds and natural forms emerge suspended in time. Here, the contour protects beauty, preserving memory as something fragile and luminous.

Act II | Brazilian Poems

Memory expands into cultural identity. Faces and carnival figures appear through bold black outlines, shaped by music, color, and collective celebration. Hidden beneath layers of paint are fragments of songs and poetic references, emotional foundations rather than visible narratives. The line becomes an act of remembrance: selecting what is carried forward from a homeland experienced both intimately and at a distance.

Act III | The Line of Choice

The same line that once framed beauty and memory now confronts the body itself. Through self-portraiture and materials drawn from daily life, these works examine discipline, vulnerability, and survival, informed by lived experience with diabetes and bodily self-perception. The contour becomes a threshold: the space between impulse and care, between who we were and who we decide to become.

Because identity is not a fixed image. It is a continuous act of becoming.
